A rare ten run win!
Big defense and big bats ... who knew? We looked great in a 15-3 win, that featured an usual walk-off triple then Ken actually walked out. My line: 1-3, 3B, 3R, 2RBI.

Who likes to walk anyway?
I walked three times on thirteen pitches last night, before finally getting to swing my bat (into a tough fielder's choice) on the last at-bat. Defensively, we gave up too many easy plays leading to easy runs, for something like a 16-9 loss. My line: 0-1, 3BB, R.

Shoulda slud? I did!
I had a great game tonight, cheered on by Greg and Elise. Two spectacular diving catches in left field (I won't be complaining any more about the humidity, after it kept those balls hanging in the air for me!) I had a decent night at the plate too with two hits, and I scored from first base twice. Too bad we lost in the end, 11-10. My line: 2-3, 3R.

Have (the) mercy (rule) on us!
Tough outing for Shoulda Slud. I don't even know what the score was but we lost handily on a hot night. My line: 1-3, R, 2RBI, one outfield putout.

Softball is back!
Shoulda Slud came back with a bang. We got out to a 13-0 lead, and in typical fashion, blew it! Then, in the bottom of the seventh inning we came through on a walkoff error to win 17-16. My line: 3-4, 2R, 2RBI, 3 outfield put-outs.

Great basketball game!
Well, maybe not great in an outcome sense (lost 62-33), but one of my best individual performances on the hardwood in quite some time. 4 points, and six "half rebounds". "Half rebound" defined as hip-checking an opposition player away from the ball so that a teammate can get the rebound. With this performance, Gang Green improves to 0-4 on the year.

Pop quiz
Your team is 11-4, your QB has 22 TDs against 10 INTs on the season, with 3300 yards so far, despite playing with sore ribs for a stretch. Your team's last game is a thrilling victory where you get 300 passing yards and 3 passing touchdowns on a blustery cold northeastern night. Are you A) so happy for such a great season so far or B) more convinced than ever that your quarterback is a bum? If you said B, you're definitely not riding the Donovan McNabb bus!

Your bailout dollars at work!
From Andrew Sorkin, via Alex Tabarrok at Marginal Revolution, on the problem of moral hazard, and bailouts encouraging more risky lending:
That had to be what Citigroup, with its firsthand expertise with bailouts, must have been thinking when it lent $8 billion to Dubai last year. Oh, and here is an interesting fact: Citigroup made the loan to Dubai on Dec. 14, 2008. Take a look at the calendar - that's after it received tens of billions in TARP funds. Citigroup chairman, Win Bischoff, said at the time, "This is in line with our commitment to the U.A.E. market in general, and reflects our positive outlook on Dubai in particular." Good call.

Maybe I should just play this badly all the time
I had one of my worst outings ever as a goalie in our men's game last night, but the offense was up to task, scoring three goals and almost putting in a few more. We won a tight 3-2 contest.
