Shoulda Slud: Bats fell asleep
Our sophomore outing was not as good as our first, as bad fielding combined with bad hitting for a 13-4 loss. My line: 2-3.

Shoulda Slud
Last night was my first softball game with my new team: Shoulda Slud. A fun group of guys and gals in a slightly less competitive setting. In a game with a couple "first-game mistakes" we came out ahead 9-8. On my best hit of the night, I hit a triple and there was a throwing error to third, so I slid into home. They told me I wasn't supposed to slide... I was supposed to run past the plate and say I "shoulda slud"! My line: 1-3, 3B, R, RBI.

Basic Laws of Human Stupidity
A nearly mathematical approach to human stupidity. There's a lot to agree with. I'm pretty sure the US Congress counts as almost entirely B2. Enjoy The Basic Laws of Human Stupidity by Carlo M. Cipolla.

How David Beats Goliath
For god sakes David, do not play by Goliath's rules! Malcolm Gladwell writes about How David Beats Goliath in the current issue of The New Yorker.

What's one hundred million dollars among friends?
Just read Obama's blog post on cutting one hundred million dollars from some government budgets. I think it's a great start. Now if only there was a logical place to cut billions of dollars of wasteful spending. Hmmm.....

I want you to apologize!
Yes, for me, that's one of the worst parts of our financial crises (that, and watching certain bankers laugh all the way to .... the bank). Peter Bregman opines in Harvard Business Publishing how and why we think I want you to apologize!. In the meantime I will not hold my breath for any apologies!

Great article from The Atlantic Online, entitled The Quiet Coup, regarding how the International Monetary Fund (IMF) solves banking crises in other countries and what needs to happen for a US solution.

Fannie Mae / Freddie Mac bonuses
Hey you two, fair is fair. The recent AIG bonuses were crap and so are the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac bonuses, these totaling $210 million. Would be nice to see Barnie Frank sing a different tune about those two as well.
